The challenge

The NEU challenged Sherry Design to create a series of high impact campaigns that would pressure the government into changing course on its approach to education to avert the crisis that is currently engulfing it.

Our first campaign focused on teachers pay and the lack of funding in education. Key campaign aims were:

To break the public sector pay cap and begin to recapture the real-terms pay loss suffered by teachers since 2010, by demanding a fully-funded pay rise.
To halt and reverse Government cuts to school funding since 2015.

How we helped

We designed a powerful ‘ground up’ campaign that encouraged parents, children and the wider public to join those in the education sector by 'raising their hand' in solidarity over the issue of pay and funding.

The simple, iconic symbol of 'hands up' in support of education, combined with an 'enough's enough!' message - focused in, on the need for urgent action. This symbol formed the campaigns flexible core, that activation built and evolved from, as the political landscape shifted.
